TOWN HALL EXPANSION
Eligible electors for the Town of Townsend will vote on a 30x50 addition and renovation of the town hall.

As our community grows we will need to make tough decisions that makes sense for the growth of our town hall.
The current town hall holds many community events and is often short on space. The age and condition of our current space makes this decision extremely important.
Our current town hall needs sufficient insulation and the electrical needs re-wiring. The proposed addition will be stick built with 6-inch walls to get an R-21 factor. The past issues of mold and concerns about septic have been addressed and inspected.
The bathrooms are due for updating along with the construction of a wall to add privacy to this area and bring it to code.
We need to take care of the issues with the floor buckling. This is causing a health hazard for many of our elderly.
The update and increase to the office space on the south end of the current building would include a firesafe records area, single handicap bathroom, small meeting room and office space directly upon entrance to the hall. A communication window will be added to improve safety for those individuals working alone. Hall area can be locked when not in use or rented out.

We hope to add additional parking to the east side with the removal of grass space and the concrete block that juts facing the post office.
The existing bar would be removed and a portable one would be in the storage room and available as needed.
The movement of the kitchen door allows the possible addition of a retractable service window in the kitchen make serving more efficient for rental opportunities.
The current office will be used to store the table and chairs creating more room in the hall area.
