Welcome to Townsend, WI
The Town of Townsend was built along a military rd in 1864. It was originally named Johnson Siding and later, along with Lakewood, became known as the Town of Wheeler. The Town was named Townsend in honor of the man who drove the first railroad spike here and established April 4, 1916
The Townsend town clerk will be out of the office the week of Feburary 26, returning March 5th.
Townsend road weight limits will go into effect Wednesday, February 7 at noon.
They may be pulled when weather permits

In accordance with Ordinance #1-93,
NO PARKING of any vehicle is permitted on roads in the Town of Townsend during the hours of 8:00pm and 8:00am from November 1, 2023 to April 1,2024
The Town Board will be meeting with Forest Service Coop regarding road on March 5 at 6pm at the Lakewood Administrative Building
