FOREST

The Town of Townsend was built along a Military road in 1864. It was originally named Johnson Siding and later, along with Lakewood, became known as the Town of Wheeler. The Town was named Townsend in honor of the man who drove the first railroad spike here.

Hello all!

It is hard to imagine that the winter is upon us!! I would like to also throw in the Townsend Tree Lighting information...

We will gather on December 1st around 4:00pm.  There will be activities for kids.  At 4:30, we will have a puppet show about Christmas and around 5:00 we will gather for carols and Hot Chocolate, popcorn and snacks.  It is so nice to gather together and celebrate the beautiful Christmas season!

Townsend will also encourage outdoor decorations and plans to have a contest throughout the area.  To register for the contest, see the Town Clerk or visit the web site.  There will be a list of participants and anyone who would like to help with the judging will be given a list of the participants.  It is a great way for the family to drive around and "check out" the various Christmas landscapes!

Spread the word!
